Powering the Caribbean's Busiest Airport: A State-of-the-Art Dual Vault Installation at Punta Cana International
When the most trafficked airport in the Caribbean needed a complete electrical infrastructure upgrade, we delivered two vault systems built to the highest standards with zero shortcuts, full regulatory compliance, and technology designed to last.
Punta Cana International Airport is not just the busiest airport in the Dominican Republic it is the highest-traffic airport across the entire Caribbean region. Serving millions of passengers annually, its airfield electrical infrastructure must operate with absolute reliability, 24 hours a day, every day of the year. This is precisely the kind of project where there is no room for compromise.
We were contracted to design and execute the complete installation of two vault room systems both built to identical specifications, ensuring full redundancy and consistency across the facility. Each vault was equipped with eleven Reliance Power Constant Current Regulators (CCRs), circuit selector switches, and a fully integrated Airfield Lighting Control and Monitoring System (ALCMS) extending all the way to the control tower.
What was installed
Constant current regulators
22 × Reliance Power CCRs (11 per vault)
Circuit selector switches
Full suite per vault
Control & monitoring system
ALCMS extended to control tower
Vault rooms
2 vaults, identical specification

No shortcuts. Ever.
Airfield electrical work is among the most regulated and safety-critical work in the construction industry. Every component we install, every connection we make, and every system we commission must meet strict FAA, ICAO, and local aviation authority standards. We don't treat compliance as a checklist we treat it as a baseline. Our teams go further.
From the selection of ADB Reliance Power CCRs recognized as the gold standard in airfield power regulation to the precision installation of each circuit selector switch, every decision was made with long-term reliability and operational safety in mind. We source only top-tier equipment, install it to manufacturer specifications, and commission each system with thorough testing before sign-off.
Duplicating the system across two identical vaults was not simply a matter of scale. It required meticulous coordination to ensure both installations were executed with the same level of precision, that the ALCMS integration was seamless across both vault environments, and that the handoff to the control tower met the exacting standards the airport demanded.
Punta Cana handles more air traffic than any other airport in the Caribbean. Runway and taxiway lighting failures even momentary ones can have serious safety consequences. The ALCMS we installed gives controllers real-time visibility and command over the entire airfield lighting network, reducing response times and enabling proactive management of any fault condition.
This project is a demonstration of what we stand for: delivering state-of-the-art infrastructure at the highest-demand facilities in the region, with no compromises on quality, safety, or compliance.
